About the Journal
MUSICA THEORICA is a peer-reviewed electronic journal published every six months by the Brazilian Society for Music Theory and Analysis (TeMA). Founded at TeMA’s innaugural Conference in 2015, this is an academic journal that aims at fostering scientific knowledge in the field of music theory and analysis by publishing original articles that reflect the field’s current research state and by stimulating the dialogue with related fields. It serves a diverse profile of readers from fields such as music theory, music analysis, systematic and historical musicology, and creative and perceptual processes in music, in addition to music pedagogy and cultural studies in general.
It receives contributions from Brazil and abroad on a continuous basis and is published in an annual volume with two issues – January–June (Issue 1) and July–December (Issue 2).
MUSICA THEORICA accepts articles in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. The Editorial Board as well as its ad hoc reviewers receive and continuously evaluate the works submitted for publication in a double-blind process guaranteed by the PKP Open Journal System. Authors are notified about the result of the evaluation within 30 to 60 days from the submission date. To submit a paper, authors must fill up the electronic form found in "Registration" and then log in to "User Page" (top menu) - where authors can also follow the ongoing editorial process. The submitted manuscripts must meet the standards described in “Guidelines for Authors”.
